High Definition

• PLAYSTATION®3 is the only computer entertainment system to natively support the maximum High Definition (HD) resolution of 1080p. HD images are five times that of standard definition allowing PS3™ to deliver a crisper, more detailed picture quality than ever before.
  
  
• HD Explained: The main HD resolutions are 1080i, 720p and 1080p. The number refers to the number of lines the screen displays and the letter ‘i’ for interlaced or ‘p’ for progressive describes how the screen refreshes the image. Interlaced refreshes the screen line by line, however progressive refreshes the entire picture, the result of which is stunningly clear and detailed images on your screen.

• HD Revolution: High Definition is changing the way we watch TV and movies, record home videos and now play video games. A large amount of TV and film content is now being recorded and broadcast in High Definition. Real Time

• Real time simply refers to when different components of a game – graphics, sound, physics, etc – are created in that moment, in ‘real time’, rather than being pre-rendered or created at an earlier stage and simply played back at a given moment in a game.

Six – Axis

Multimedia Entertainment

• From gaming to movies and music to online, PLAYSTATION®3 will deliver the full range of next generation interactive entertainment.

• Movies: PLAYSTATION®3 has a built-in Blu-ray Disc player allowing it to play the latest High Definition Blu-ray Disc movies as well as your entire DVD collection. It can also store and play digital movie formats on its hard disk drive.
